University Don encourages Buhari on corrupt Nigerians

President Mohammadu Buhari, has been advised not to surround his administration with corrupt or people with questionable character in his effort to rid the country of corruption.

The Deputy-Vice Chancellor Administration, Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu University, Igbariam Campus, Professor Sunday Obikaeze, handed down the warning during press interview in Awka.

Professor Obikaeze, who recalled that Nigerians voted for President Buhari during the 2015 presidential election in the country because of his integrity and hard earned past antecedents, said that corruption has eating deep in all facets of the nation’s economy.

He called on President Buhari to be mindful of the kind of people he wants to work with in order to save the country from her current economic quagmire.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor Administration, who is a Professor of Political Science, charged President Buhari to consider Professionalism and areas of specialization while assigning portfolio to the newly confirmed ministers.

He encouraged President Buhari to ensure that a minister is appointed from each state of the Federation as contained in the 1999 constitution as amended.

He argued that any attempt to cut down the current size of the Federal Ministries by the present Government in the country would amount to subjecting Nigerian workers to becoming jobless, pointing out that he was bothered by the statement by President Buhari that Nigeria is broke.

The Professor, who spoke among other things, noted that such statement could scare away foreign investor to the detriment of the nation’s economy and challenged President Buhari to embark on functional programmes and policies that could revive the nation’s economic base.
