The Senate has launched a suggestion box to make room for Nigerians to offer suggestions on issues they expect the National Assembly to execute toward a greater nation.

President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, said at the inauguration that the 8th senate was determined to carry Nigerians along in the discharge of its duties.

He said that the suggestion box was a clear pointer to the fact that the senate was interested in the electorate's opinion.

"Be sure that your suggestions, opinions and ideas will not go unnoticed irrespective of your background, political orientation, social status, gender, religious or ethnic orientation.

"I expect that we will make this eighth senate different and do what is necessary to achieve results for Nigerians and Nigeria," he said.

The senate also inaugurated eleven more committees that included those on Health, Works, Power, Housing, Federal Character Territory, Marine Transport and Land Transport.

Others were Aviation, Trade and Investment, Industry and Capital Market.

Saraki expressed confidence in the lawmakers, stating that he was sure that that were all up to the task of moving Nigeria forward.

He advised the chairmen and vice chairmen of the committees against building "a one man show", saying that they must strive to carry other committee members along.

He called for a strong feedback mechanism - non-discriminatory, direct, open, uninhibited and continuous.

The senate, which had inaugurated 28 committees, now has 39 committees out of the total 65 standing committees.
