Senate confirms Danbatta as NCC Vice Chairman

Senate has confirmed the appointment of Prof. Umaru Garba Danbatta as the Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The confirmation follows the consideration of the report of the Senate Committee on Communication on the screening of Danbatta, presented by Senator Gilbert Nnaji.

Most of the lawmakers endorsed the appointment.

In his contribution, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu observed that with his credentials, Danbatta was qualified for the position.

Ekweremadu also pointed out that Danbatta had started acting even before his appointment was confirmed by the Senate.

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, also endorsed Danbatta for the position.

“He is a good candidate for the job,” said Saraki.

However, Saraki noted the Senate had observed that the Executive Vice Chairman had already resumed work before the confirmation.

Dr Eugene Juwah is the NCC Executive Vice Chairman.
