Reports say the Subsidy Reinvestment and Empowerment Programme (SURE-P), has been scrapped, and the committee sacked.
President Buhari, through the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Babachir David Lawal, ordered the scrapping of the programme.
According to Sun Newspapers, a letter was sent from the Presidency, to the SURE-P committee members, asking them to stop work, and submit a detailed report of their activities since inception.
The purpose of the SURE-P programme was to channel Government’s share of the savings gotten from the removal of fuel subsidy, to infrastructural development.
It was established by former President Jonathan, in 2012.
