The District Governor, District Nine-one-four-zero, Rotary Club International, Rotarian Ijeoma Okoro who made the assertion during a courtesy call on the Managing Director and chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Mr. Uche Nworah, extended hands of partnership to the establishment.
Rotarian Okoro said it would not have been possible for Nigeria to achieve free polio status for fifteen months without the remarkable contributions of the media.
She noted that the press drive advocacy and build opinion that enhance response and participants in programmes that promote collective welfare of the people and called for sustained efforts to keep polio away from the country for her to be removed completely from the list of polio endemic countries.
The Rotary District Governor who thanked the station for its support to the club, explained that partnership with the ABS would enable it reach out to more people, intensify enlightenment and attract more public spirited individuals to contribute to humanitarian services, as according to her, Rotary has become a trusted platform to uplift the lives of the under-privileged.
A member of the Club and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Dr. Emma Udeakpe observed that Rotary Club and the ABS, share common spirit of service delivery and a synergy between them would bear positively on lives of the people in the state and beyond.
Dr. Udeakpe commended the ABS for its youth empowerment programmes, urging privileged individuals to imbibe the spirit of care and sharing to give back to the society God’s blessings in their lives.
Responding, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Mr. Nworah assured that the ABS would sustain collaboration with the club in its effort to touch lives and widin the scope of humanitarian services.
Mr. Nworah said the establishment would always identify with organizations that work for the common good of the people.
In his remarks, the Head of Programmes of the ABS Mr. Don Onyenji said the ABS as a strong brand with two television stations and two radio stations fully ICT complaint is well positioned to assist the club to achieve the desired goals.
The highlights of the visit were exchange of gifts by the Managing Director of the ABS and the Governor of the Rotary Club as well as induction of Mr. Onyenji as a member of the club.
