The Nigerian Army have lauded Anambra State for her growing reasonable contributions to national development by leading the industrialization drive of this great nation.
This was established by the commandant, Nigerian Army College of Logistics (NACOL), Brigadier Genera Julius Olusola Oni yesterday on the industrial study tour to Anambra state by participants of logistics management.
Brig Gen. Oni who led the delegation to the governor’s lodge noted that the state was chosen for the study after due considerations having made significant contributions to national development. He disclosed the theme of the visit as “Harnessing the Industrial and Natural Potentials of Anambra state for National Development”. The commandant stressed that the theme was carefully chosen to help the students understand the place of the state in the cultural, socio-economic and industrial development of the Nation.
The commandant on the mission of NACOL, stated that the mandate is to train middle and senior cadre officers in the science of planning and execution of military logistics functions at formation, corps, tri service and multinational levels using modern management concepts and techniques.
Elucidating further on the curriculum the Logistics Management Course covers, Brig. Gen. Oni disclosed that it covers both indoor and outdoor exercises which include visits to states in the federation in a bid to familiarizing the participants with the application of current management concepts and techniques in some industries and parastatals of the chosen state. He further added that the students are also expected to identify those industrial and natural deposits that could be used in the local production of hardware for the military and also note areas where the military could partner with the state in its drive towards establishing industrial complex. He noted that with the much the team have seen especially in their visit to Nnewi the previous day, he was optimistic that the purpose will be achieved by the end of the tour.
Addressing the delegation, Governor Willie Obiano stated that his administration hhave a long beautiful relationship with the army. He said that in the fight against kidnapping and related crimes, the army and other security agencies have played vital roles in wiping out criminals in the state. The governor asserted that owing to its robust determination in fighting crime, the state is today the safest state in Nigeria. He noted that sequel to this, his administration have attracted investors and investments in various sectors of the economy. He however noted that one of the major problems facing the state is erosion adding that the state have appealed to the federal government for assistance in this regard. He reiterated the zero tolerance of the state government on the area of corruption stating that his administration is working assiduously in all sectors. He disclosed that the 3 flyovers under construction will be ready by January. He assured the team of a wonderful stay in the state.
