The Speaker of the Niger state House of Assembly, Alhaji Ahmed Marafa has charged Nigerians to support the federal government in its fight to bring insurgency in parts of the country to a total halt before the end of this year.
He noted that the crisis in parts of the country has been having untold negative effect on business activities around the country which is also affecting the lives of the average Nigerian.
Marafa made the plea in Minna on Friday while inaugurating the House committee on Security headed by the Majority Leader, Alhaji Ibrahim Hussaini.
He said that unless Nigerians give credible information to security agencies about the movements and activities of insurgents, it would be difficult for the security agents alone to handle the situation.
“The insurgents are staying among us,” he stated. “We know their movements. We should be able to give this type of information to the government so that it would fight the insurgence to a standstill.”
Marafa said Nigerians cannot reward adequately the security men and women in the country because “while we go to sleep they remain awake to protect our lives and property, we should therefore always give them the needed respect.”
