EFCC grills ex Permanent Secretary over N500b fraud

EFCC operativesThe former Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Mrs. Nkechi Ejele is being investigated by the EFCC over the alleged mismanagement of N500b.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has reportedly began investigations to determine how funds allocated to the ministry for the Sure-P project from 2013 to 2014 were used.

According to Punch Newspapers, a source in the EFCC said “The operatives of the commission are investigating the Sure-P issue now.

“Today, the immediate-past Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation, Mrs. Nkechi Ejele, came in response to an invitation and she is still being grilled.

“She arrived the commission’s headquarters by 10am and was immediately taken into the interrogation room for the probe.

“The lady is still with the operatives in charge of the investigation.”

You will recall that the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) found N292m in the bank account of a former Permanent Secretary, who was recently retired by President Buhari.
