Drug Abuse: NDLEA Convicts 20, Destroys over 2,000 Cannabis Farm in Ekiti

In a bid to dissuade people from taking to drug abuse in any form, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency , has convicted 20 persons for drug related offences in 2015.

The agency has also destroyed over 2,000 cannabis farm within the year while also seizing  1,562kgs of substances suspected to be hard drug from cultivators and couriers of the dangerous weed.

In a chat with journalists in Ado Ekiti Friday, the NDLEA Commander in Ekiti, Mr Suleiman Jadi, said those convicted at the Federal High Court sitting in Ado Ekiti were nabbed at various locations across the State before they were prosecuted.

The NDLEA boss revealed that 17 accused persons are still being remanded in Prison , with assurances that more convictions will be
secured before the end of the year.
