Drama in Senate as APC leader’s wife sits on Ekweremadu’s seat

There was a mild drama in the Senate today, November 18, 2015, when Senator Remi Tinubu, the wife of All Progressives Congress (APC), leader, Bola Tinubu, sat on a chair meant for Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, reports say.

Mrs Tinubu took Ekweremadu’s position when she wanted to second a motion on the approval of the Lagos State development policy operation loan.

She was reportedly scolded by Senator-Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ekweremadu’s party, for the action leading her to return to her seat.

Mrs Tinubu was however said to have returned to the Deputy Senate President's seat a second time to have a discussion with Senate Leader, Aliyu Ndume despite the initial drama.

Ekweremadu was reportedly absent from the plenary session of the upper legislative chamber at the time of the incident.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Senate President is said to have survived an attempt on his life by suspected assassins.

According to Ekweremadu's media aide, Uche Anichukwu the incident occurred on Tuesday, November 17, while the Deputy Senate President was on his way to work.
