Confusion in nimo Community as Monarch corpse missing at burial

Nimo Community , Njikoka local government area, Anambra State known for its of relative peace is presently sitting on the keg of gunpowder following the marking of the funeral rites of its traditional ruler, Igwe John Okafor –Agilo on the 26th of November, 2015 by a section of the community led by its traditional prime minister, justice Godwin Ononiba (Retired), the Igwe –in-council and the president general of the community, Chief Anthony Igboka.

According to the crown Prince Chike Okafor-Agilo, the family initially chose the 29th of December, 2015 as the burial date of the late Igwe which was later changed by the community a week later to November 26th as his new burial date.

He said though the family agreed that the 26th day of November was okay, it expressed that the time was short but the community insisted that it will meet up its proposed deadline.

The Prince said as at November 12th, 2015 it was only the palace obu that was painted, remaining eighty percent of the work including electrical, wall painting, toilet completion, and landscaping, etc.

He said the sum of two million naira was waived by the palace to the committee handling the job for which it has not spent up to the one million naira.

The Crown Prince said the family made a proposal for three extra weeks or a month to be given to it to be fully prepared for the burial, and finally arrived at Tuesday January 5th 2016 as the final burial date which was communicated to the president general of the town on the 12th and 18th day of November, 2015 respectively and copied to the traditional prime minister of the community, Nimo chief security officer, the member representing Njikoka two constituency in the State House Assembly, all churches, the head of the Ozo community, and the Etiti-Nimo progressive union.

The Crown Prince stated categorically that all efforts made to make them see reason with the family inspite of its radio and television announcements proved abortive as the president general and his group went on air to counter his announcement, and even included his name illegally as one of those who authorized the November, 26th burial of the late Igwe.

Prince Okafor-Agilo expressed shock that the group went ahead to organize a funeral for the late Igwe on the 26th of November, 2016 without  his corpse buried and preparations still not concluded for his full burial rites, and work still ongoing at the palace.

He disclosed that he has reported the matter to the Anambra Central Traditional Rulers council meeting at Ojoto which viewed the anomaly with serious concern, and has vowed to redress it.

The crown Prince called for peace in Nimo, and urged the Anambra state government, the Anambra state traditional rulers council, the Anambra central traditional rulers council, the Njikoka traditional rulers council, and all lovers of peace and justice to wade into the crisis to save the community from imminent chaos and possible breakdown of law and order.

It will be recalled that the traditional ruler of Nimo died in August 20th, 2014 in the United States of America while his body arrived Nigeria in August, 15th 2015.

It is also on record that the late Igwe mounted the thrown of his ancestor Owelle in July 15th, 1989.

However, www.odogwublog.com contacted the President General of Nimo Community, Hon Frank-Anthony Igboka and he dismissed the allegations saying their late Igwe has been given all the befitting last ofala and with consent of the chief mourner , the wife. He said the son wanted to bury him like a heathen but the monarch was a christian while alive.
