Don't scoff just yet. This isn't quite as bonkers as it sounds.
Yes, we have calculated exactly how every Premier League game this season would have finished if every shot on target had gone in. Yes, we have used those results to draw up the full table as it would look if goalkeepers simply didn't make any saves.
And yes, that does seem a little pointless at first.
But it might make a little more sense when you hear this fact:
It seems Bayern Munich don't actually need Manuel Neuer - not in the Bundesliga, anyway. Even if every shot on their goal had gone in, they would STILL be top of the German table.
Which brings us back to our original point. Who would be top of the Premier League under similar conditions?
Alternative League Table IF EVERY SHOT ON TARGET HAD GONE IN…
1 Tottenham Hotspur 33
2 Manchester City 32
3 Arsenal 27
4 Southampton 27
5 Leicester City 25
6 Liverpool 24
7 Crystal Palace 22
8 Manchester United 21
9 Bournemouth 19
10 Swansea City 18
11 Newcastle United 17
12 Chelsea 15
13 West Bromwich Albion 15
14 Norwich 14
15 West Ham United 14
16 Watford 13
17 Everton 12
18 Stoke City 9
19 Aston Villa 6
20 Sunderland 4
So, if no goalkeeper had made a save this season, Spurs would be top of the table, one point ahead of Man City and five clear of Arsenal.

Man United (somewhat unsurprisingly) would slip all the way down to 8th, just one spot above Bournemouth, who climb all the way up to 9th. Everton, meanwhile, plummet to 17th, with West Ham and Stoke also dropping dramatically.
So, what does this teach us? The key point appears to be this: Mauricio Pochettino must be cursing the keepers his team have played against…
