The situation where overzealous fools gathers together and destroys ancestral deities, which was kept sacred and preserved for future generations to sturdy as history and showcase them to international tourists as artifacts of high value. Out of ignorance the fools destroys and set fire on these expensive deities due to the fact that they belong to one religious group or another, my question stands easy like:-
1. Why should people destroy something they do not know how it was coded and preserved?
2. Where you forced to worship the deity if so why not refuse and leave the deity on its own instead of destroying them.
3. Do those fools know that the booming of tourism today stands by showcasing the ancestral artifacts of particular culture of the people to the extent that those that travel to Israel,China,Japan
Rome, Greece, etc. goes purely to enjoy the cultures of the people which artifacts and deities contribute 90% of what the tourists enjoy.
There is a case at hand where a particular town in Aguata destroyed their famous ancestral Uchu Diety some years ago.
But came back to celebrate Iwaji Festival many people’s with masquerades were killed by a truck, My question goes simple like these :- If the town can out of Foolishness and ignorance destroy their Traditional Deity which was established by the ancestors why did they went to celebrate Iwaji Festival which is also ancestral festival that goes with our traditional deities.?
As Ogirisi-Igbo I am warning the Igbo’s to stop with immediate effect the demolition and destruction of our high valued Ancestral deities. Do not worship them but do not destroy them because they stand as artifacts of history for our future generation and future tourist to our great country. Those that has ears let them hear, after all the white-man so-called religious history where our faith was build are today calling its followers to adopt into their transferred religion the sin we were told that destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah “sodomy” but to our ancestral laws and deities decree this sin is totally forbidden.
