The Selecao captain has made the headlines after a series of nights out in his native Brazil, but is this appropriate behaviour as he completes his international suspension?Barcelona decided to give their players some free time during the international break. As a result of injury and suspension, all three members of their MSN strike-force - Argentina's Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez of Uruguay and Brazil captain Neymar - were able to rest while their compatriots took to the field.
In the photos posted to social networks during the World Cup qualifying period, Messi continued to work on his recovery from a knee injury while Suarez kept a lower profile, showing photos with his family.
Neymar, meanwhile, chose to spend his break in Brazil, and joined friends at an event in a samba school. Snaps alongside world-famous artists, surfer Gabriel Medina and many other friends appeared on his Instagram account... but nothing regarding the Brazil national team. Any mention of football was limited to a handful of posts about Barcelona.
Barcelona do not seem to have any problem with Neymar living it up in Brazil, but the problem is the time chosen by the Brazilian star, and more than anything the way he did it.
Uploading photos of parties, as if the historic defeat against Chile had never happened, may send the wrong message to Brazil fans. The issue is not stopping a person from doing what they wish, it is simply believing that this was not the right time. The Selecao is suffering without him in the team, and Barcelona are also far from firing on all cylinders on the pitch.
Neymar himself has not started the season in brilliant form. At a time where many hoped he could finally take a leading role in Barcelona, after Messi's injury, Luis Suarez is the man who has shined and seized responsibility.
The international break could have been used to work on exercises which would help the No. 11 to improve his lukewarm performances up until this point. Partying has been the downfall of numerous Brazil stars, who like playing around more than playing on the pitch. Neymar must be careful he doesn't take the same path.
