www.odogwublog.com reports that the Police authorities in Anambra State have declared over 300 suspected cultists wanted and has therefore launched a serious manhunt for them.
The suspects were allegedly named by kidnappers, armed robbers and serial killers as their members.
Of the 177 communities listed as harbouring the criminals by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office, Awkuzu in Oyi Local Government Area, Obosi community in Idemmili North Local Government Area topped the chart. It was followed by Oba in Idemmili South, Oko in Orumba North, Umunze in Orumba South and Nsugbe in Anambra East.
Others are Nando in Anyamelum and Aguleri in Anambra East and Awka in Awka South, Nnewi in Nnewi North as well as Ogidi and Nkpor in Idemmili North.
The police have, therefore, appealed to the public, especially community leaders and religious groups to help them fish out the suspects so that they can be brought to book.
The manhunt has started across the 177 communities in the state as part of moves by the police to rid the state of criminal activities ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations.
Already, the police have arrested 32 suspected cultists who have allegedly confirmed their participation in the serial killings associated with land dispute and communal crises in their areas.
Eight of the cultists were arrested during a joint operation of the police and vigilante group in the state while 30 others were picked up in Ogbaru Local Government Area.
