‘How I emerged Mrs. Tourism United Nations

                                                      
For Mrs. Ebelechukwu Chinelo Enemchukwu, who recently took part in a keenly contested Mrs. United Nations beauty contest and won, it’s joy unlimited. While attributing her success to her husband, Mr. Emeka Enemchukwu, the mother of three opens up to Entertainer on how she won the much-coveted crown. Enjoy it.

What prompted you as a mother of three to contest?

I took interest in the pageant because I instantly connected with the vision of the pageant system after I visited the website for information. The pageant system represents among other things, service, volunteerism, and celebration of family; celebration of womanhood, relationship building, and charity.

Is there anything in it that others could learn from?

Yes. My favourite quote… ‘Excellence is not a destination, it’s a journey’.

What was your immediate family’s reaction, especially your husband?

My husband’s reaction before, during the period of the competition and thus far, has been that of total support, encouragement, guidance and love. With my children and members of my extended family, it’s been a lot of support as well, particularly through prayers.

So far, how have you been coping?

I have been coping quite well. As you can imagine, my plate is a lot fuller. But thankfully, I have a very good support system, so I’m doing just fine.

When you were announced as winner, what was going through your mind?

Gratitude to God flooded my mind. What followed was the realisation that I now have a more robust platform through which I can continue to impact as many lives as I possibly can, through various acts of charity and inspiration. I’m grateful to all who have brought me this far. There’s still a lot of work to be done, but I’m confident that with all the love and support, we can achieve all.

Who is the new Mrs. UN?

I am Ebelechukwu Chinelo Enemchukwu. I have been married for seven years to the most loving and supportive husband, Mr. Emeka Enemchukwu, with whom I have been blessed with three adorable children. I am a graduate of both Abia State University and University of Lagos. I have a B.Sc. in Microbiology and Master degree in Business Administration respectively.

I have a nine-year post-N.Y.S.C work experience and currently work as a Training Specialist with a Telecommunications company in Lagos.

I’m Catholic by faith, and a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers in my parish, Catholic Church of The Transfiguration, VGC (in Lagos). I’m a Lector as well, and the current Publicity Secretary for the Lekki Deanery Board of Lectors.

In 2005, I won the Lagos State (Batch A) Miss NYSC title in an event organised by Nigerian Breweries. To the glory of God, here I am 10 years later with two major titles and an international award. At the national level, I won the Mrs. Nigeria United Nations title at the prestigious United Nations pageants grand finalé, which took place on May 16 at the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja, and organised by Miss Precious Chikwendu, 2014 United Nations World Queen. This then qualified me for the international pageant, which held in Kingston, Jamaica on July 18, 2015 where I won the Mrs. Tourism United Nations title, as well as the People’s Choice Ambassador Award for having the highest number of votes of 63,900 across all categories of the competition.
