FIFA and France Football have announced the names of the nominees for the FIFA Ballon d’Or and for the FIFA World Coach of the Year for Men and Women’s Football awards.
The awards recognise the best in each category for their performance between 22 November 2014 and 20 November 2015.
The voting period for the awards begins on October 26 and ends on November 20 but may be extended to a week more to allow every participating jury member cast their vote. On November 30, FIFA will announce the top three in all categories including the FIFA Puskás Award (honouring the most beautiful goal of the year).
The final decisions will be made by the captains and head coaches of the men’s national teams as well as by international media representatives selected by France Football. The winners of all of the awards will be announced at the FIFA Ballon d’Or as part of a televised show at the Zurich Kongresshaus on 11 January 2016.
The following 23 male players (in alphabetical order) are in contention for the FIFA Ballon d’Or 2015: Sergio Agüero, Gareth Bale, Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Eden Hazard, Zlatan Ibrahimović, Andrés Iniesta, Toni Kroos, Robert Lewandowski, Javier Mascherano, Lionel Messi, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Neymar, Paul Pogba, Ivan Rakitić, Arjen Robben, James Rodríguez, Alexis Sánchez, Luis Suárez, Yaya Touré, and Arturo Vidal.
The ten male coaches for the FIFA World Coach of the Year 2015 are: Massimiliano Allegri, Carlo Ancelotti, Laurent Blanc, Unai Emery, Pep Guardiola, Luis Enrique Martínez, José Mourinho, Jorge Sampaoli, Diego Simeone, and Arsène Wenger.
The ten female footballers for the FIFA Women’s World Player of the Year 2015 are: Nadine Angerer, Ramona Bachmann, Kadeisha Buchanan, Amandine Henry, Eugénie Le Sommer, Carli Lloyd, Aya Miyama, Megan Rapinoe, Célia Šašić, and Hope Solo.
