- APC, Women Leader salute founding fathers, past heroes
EKITI State Governor, Ayo Fayose, has said it is unfortunate that despite the nation marking her 55thindependence, development strides are not commensurate with her age.
“Our country is growing in age as an independent country, but there is no corresponding growth in values. The current leadership in the country should have the courage to probe all the leaderships of the past. There should be no sacred cow, if truly they have anything to offer. It will not augur well for our nation, if we are selective in the dispensation of justice. Leadership must be equitable and fair to all,” Fayose said.
The All Progressives Congress (APC), in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said today’s celebration provides an opportunity for Nigerians to remember past heroes, as well as the sacrifices they made to keep the nation united and strong.
‘’We have no doubt that today’s generation of Nigerians have also made, and are indeed, still making great sacrifices for the peace, unity and stability of Nigeria. We, however, appeal to all our compatriots to continue to put the nation first, and to downplay everything that divides us and embrace that which unites us.”
APC National Women Leader, Ramatu Tijani, said this year’s celebration was special because Nigeria is now witnessing “an era of good feelings” due to the good intentions of President Buhari. The women leader noted that Nigeria is actually witnessing ‘an era of good feelings’ due to the good intention of the new government of APC under the able leadership, of President Muhammad Buhari and Professor Yemi Osinbajo which signifies dedication, transformation and all round development for the generality of the country’s masses.
