Bayern set new bundesliga win record

The Bavarians made it nine wins on the bounce, and 27 points, as they overcame Werder Bremen on Saturday - though Robert Lewandowski's scoring streak was finally ended

Bayern Munich have looked unstoppable this season, and, after racking up their ninth straight win of the new Bundesliga season, the stats back up just how fantastically they are playing.

Pep Guardiola's side have picked up 27 points from a possible 27, meaning they are now in the midst of the longest winning run at the start of a Bundesliga season ever. They've also got a goal difference of +25!

The previous record of eight stright wins was also held by Bayern, which was set in the 2011-12 season when die Roten, then led by Jupp Heynckes, completed a famous treble, winning the Bundesliga, Champions League and DFB-Pokal - can they match that feat this season?

Bayern have already played many of their biggest rivals, racking up the goals against Borussia Dortmund and Wolfsburg, but struggled to break down Werder Bremen on Saturday, despite their opponents being just two points above the drop zone.

Bremen also managed to stop Robert Lewandowski from scoring for the first time in over a month; the Poland international last failed to net in the league against Bayer Leverkusen at the end of August.

Since the Leverkusen game, though, Lewandowski has scored 15 goals for club and country - featuring five against Wolfsburg and a hat-trick against Dinamo Zagreb in the Champions League - but he was FINALLY halted on Saturday afternoon at the Weserstadion. Which is some accomplishment given his form for Poland and in the Bundesliga
