Awka hosts the Grande Finale of Chukwuemeka Ike's Golden Jubilee as a novelist and Photos

www.odogwublog.com reports that Literary enthusiasts, academics, traditional rulers, critics, ANA representatives and representatives of Govt, College Umuahia, gathered in Awka on 17 Oct. 2015 to mark the grande finale the anniversary of novelist, poet and essayist HRM Chukwuemeka Ike's 50th year as a published author.

The all day event which was chaired by Chief Emeka Anyaoku, was held at the Dora Akunyili Women's Development Centre in Awka.  The venue was packed.  HE Gov Willie Obiano was represented by HE Dr. Nkem Okeke, the Deputy Governor.

HRM Igwe Alfred Achebe was the Royal father of the day and former Governor Peter Obi was represented by Prof. Stella Okunna.  Other dignitaries present were HRH Igwe Laz Ekwueme, Prof. Anezi Okoro, Immediate past SSG Anambra, Hon. Oseloka H. Obaze, Greg Mbajiogu, PRO of ANA and HOS harry Udu and several members of the Anambra State Executive Council.

The year-long anniversary event kicked off on 12 May, 2015 at the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and then to the University of Lagos, University of Ibadan and eventually, University of Jos on 5 October, 2015. 

Ike who had his spouse Prof. Bimpe Ike at his side, thanked "all who have found the time and taken the trouble to identify with me on my 50th year as a novelist."

The students in attendance presented skits based on Ike's works, debated his works and read from his various work. A jubilee book was unveiled at the event.
