www.odogwublog.com reports that Vice Chancellor, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku has charged teachers to devote much time and energy to research with a view to inculcating morality and skills into the younger generation.

  
Ahaneku, who spoke while the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) formally inducted 171 graduands of the university into teaching profession, added that the country’s education sector needs research oriented teachers in order to produce graduates that are employable and job creators.  

Represented at the occasion by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academics), Prof C. Esimone, Prof Ahaneku further appealed to the newly inducted teachers to be of good ambassadors of the citadel of learning.

Also speaking, the Registrar/Chief Executive of Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Prof. Addison Wokoccha, represented by the TRCN Director of Operations, Alh. Ibrahim Roni disclosed that induction of teachers at point of graduation has contributed immensely towards professionalizing teaching profession, as well as assist the commission to eliminate the issues of certificate forgery and quacks as they receive the record of education graduates directly from universities and colleges of education.

Earlier, the Dean, Faculty of Education, Prof Emma Agbanusi while announcing that four among the newly inductees, bagged First Class Upper Division across four departments in the faculty, charged the new teachers to be a good teacher of the society.
