Barely 48 hours after the Deputy Editor in chief and Deput Managing Director of the Sun newspapers , Steve Nwosu had his wife released by kidnappers, dare devil robbers yesterday night attacked and robbed The Sun Managing Director and Editor-In- Chief, Mr. Eric Osagie at Iponri, Surulere on his way to his Ikoyi residence from work.
Shortly after the incident occurred, Osagie narrated how the dare-devil robbers smashed the glasses of his official Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and made away with valuables including credit cards and ATM cards am.
He recounted how the Prado was “blocked on both sides by two articulated vehicles (popularly known as trailers) and suddenly, the hoodlums appeared from nowhere and shattered the glasses and made away with my bag containing cash, wallets, international passport and other valuables yet to be ascertained. “Everything that is of value to me was in that bag. I really don’t know where to start from…” he added.
It was gathered that the car was riddled with bullets while the door of the SUV was forced open.
A visibly shaken Osagie added: “I’ve never been so traumatised in my life.”
After he regained his composure, at about 9:15pm, Osagie headed straight to the Iponri Police station to make a report on the robbery.
His driver counted at least eight of the heavily-armed robbers who shattered all sides of the SUV.
Other motorists who were robbed at the same spot also stormed the station to lodge similar complaints. Police immediately swung into action.
