Tension in Atani Community as youths fight over Okpotu Carnival

www.odogwublog.com reports that the youth Leader of Atani Community in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra, Mr. Izukanne Casmir has raised alarm that some group are parading themselves as youths of Atani to extort money from some wealthy sons and daughters of the community for allegedly organizing Okotu carnival.

In a press statement issued in Onitsha and endorsed by Izukanne, he said that some youths, in their own selfish reasons go about announcing their readiness to hold Okpotu carnival tomorrow been 19th of September, 2015 without the knowledge nor approval of the Town union President nor the youth leader.


He decried the arrangement which he said is not of the community interest as they have an outstanding crisis yet to resolve before setting up a date for 2015 Okpotu carnival. He added that the group was just using the carnival to enrich their pockets.

In a telephone chat with the Town Union president, Dr. Nwuke Okwuosah, he said," am not aware of any plan to hold the Okpotu carnival this year".


The youth leader called on all those with dubious minds of making money to desist for the interest of the community.


The Carnival was said to have been introduced in the community in 2013 by the Atani town union president, Dr Nwuke Okwuosah and the youth leader in order to unite the community against the then leadership tussle that ravaged the community.
