Religion, ethnicity major problems in Nigeria – Osinbajo

Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Vice President, Nigeria.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has stated that one major problem Nigeria faces is ethnic and religious divisions among the people.
Mr. Osinbajo was speaking at Nigeria’s 55th anniversary interdenominational church service, held at the Christian Ecumenical Centre, Abuja.
He said leaders in various facets of the country play politics with everything, including religion and tribe.
The vice president noted that Nigeria has for long been divided along religious and ethnic lines.
“A nation that is divided against itself is like a kingdom divided against itself, which the Bible says, shall remain desolate,” Mr. Osinbajo, a pastor and law professor, stated.
Earlier, Joseph Bagobiri, a Bishop of the Catholic Arch-Diocese of Kafanchan, charged President Muhammadu Buhari to investigate the about N4 trillion spent on the fight against terror during the Goodluck Jonathan administration.
Mr. Bagobiri noted that despite monies spent, the insurgents grew stronger.
“Nigerians will continue to ask what happened to the colossal of money invested in security, before this administration began,” he said, adding that there was “an invincible government that hired and trained people to massacre innocent Nigerians.”
He called on President Buhari to comply with the doctrines of justice, fairness and equity in the fight against corruption, adding that this administration should break the chain of Chief Justices emerging from a segment of the nation.
