Oshiomhole renovates police barrack to honour IGP

                                                                     
                                               
N200 million has been announced by the Edo State Governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for the renovation of Police Barracks at Ogida in Benin City in honour of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) ,Solomon Arase.
The accolade to the IGP,according to Comrade Oshiomhole ,was based on the fact  that he is the first Edo indigene to be appointed as the IGP and  that the appointment was based strictly on merit, competence, commitment, intelligence and courage.

He made the remarks at a grand reception organised by the state government to celebrate IGP Solomon Arase at the weekend in Benin City, though, the governor disclosed that the donation is from the tax payers’ money

Comrade Oshiomhole praised the personality of Solomon Arase, and as well appreciated President Buhari for striking to merit by retaining him as the IGP even when other service chiefs were dropped by the Federal Government.
In his words: “I want to celebrate my own President, our own President for appreciating one of our own.  All other service chiefs have gone but our own remains,” he also added, “Now we know that without security we can do nothing.  All of us should support the National Assembly to support the IGP to reposition the Nigeria Police.”
Governor Oshiomhole, recalled the challenges that he and Solomon Arase encountered in their individual lives but that today he is a Governor and Solomon Arase is the Inspector General of Police stressing that “What will be will be.”
In their respective remarks, dignitaries comprising top government functionaries, retired and top security agencies including, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.
 The IGP however had a closed door meeting with some top Security Chiefs among whom was the State Commander of the NDLEA, Edo state Command- Mr Buba Wakawa DCN.
Responding, the IGP, Solomon Arase, who burst into a song of praise to God that his appointment was totally divine, expressed his profound gratitude to the State Governor, family members and friends for the great honour done to him and promised to leave an enviable landmark as the Police Chief.
He reiterated that he had dismantled road blocks which  has given the Police bad name and insisted it would never come back again.
IGP Arase solicited support for the Nigeria Police as the State and Federal government could not do it alone and urged the Commissioner of Police in Edo State, Chris Ezike to ensure security in Edo State.
