Man confesses how he killed friend, buried him in shallow grave

                                                     
A middle-aged man in Benue State, Ngbede Omale, must be regretting what overcame him to murder his close friend, Agabaidu Omale, during an argument and went ahead to bury him in a shallow grave.

If he thought he had covered his tracks, Omale never knew that the evil that men do live with them as he has been arrested by the State Police Command where he has confessed to his crimes.

While being paraded at the State Police Headquarters in Makurdi, Omale told the police that he had a heated argument with his friend in a farm and the disagreement generated into a fight which led to the murder.

“I just gave him a little push and he fell down and before I knew it, he was dead. I tried to resuscitate him but to no avail. I didn’t know what to do and there was nobody around. So, I quickly dug a shallow grave and buried him there.

I did not intend to kill him. I did not know that he would die. In fact, as soon as I buried him, I came home and confided in one of my cousins after which I ran away from the village. I did not know that my sin would still find me out. I am sorry.”

But the Police Commissioner in the state, Dibal Yakadi, said Omale's act was premeditated because he kept mute over the murder of his friend for eight months even when the villagers kept looking for the missing man.

The shallow grave was only discovered by some village hunters after almost a year and a manhunt for the murderer began in earnest till he was found and arrested at a village in Kwara State, where he confessed to the crime during interrogation.

Yakadi said the suspect would be charged to court when investigation is completed.

This is yet another in the series of friends turning murderers as one Steven Onowa, graduate of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra State, killed his friend, Daniel Bassey, in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, dismembered his body parts and dumped them at different locations because he did not want to pay the money he owed the man.
 In the same vein, a young man in Lagos, Anu Olokodana, was declared wanted by the police after he murdered his childhood friend because he refused to join his cult group.
