Jubilation as Unizik Graduates 87 Pharmacy students


www.odogwublog.com reports that the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Nnamdi Azikiwe Azikiwe University Awka today presented 87 graduands to the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria found fit both in character and learning and also fit to practice pharmacy profession to be inducted into the profession.
In his address, the vice Chancellor of the university, Prof. Joseph Ahaneku charged the graduands to be driven by the sound training in character and learning which they have received from their lecturers.
Prof. Ahaneku stated that the faculty of pharmaceutical sciences is already contributing to the realization of the goal of the of raising the national and international visibility of the university with regards the Faculty's hosting of the 2015 Foreign Pharmacy Graduate Orientation Programme under the auspices of the Pharmacists' Council of Nigeria.
The vice chancellor while congratulating the graduands described the event as an important milestone in their lives urging them to uphold the university's core values of discipline, self reliance and Excellence. He reiterated the commitment of his administration in taking the university to enviable heights noting that his administration is working vigorously to improving facilities in the faculty.
Presenting the graduands at the School Auditorium in Agulu during the 5th Oath- taking/induction ceremony of the Faculty, the Ag Dean of the faculty, Dr. Ikemefuna Uzochukwu, urged the graduands to carry the banner of the University to all the ends of the earth. He also stressed that pharmacy profession is diverse and as big as the elephant and implored them to identify
their preferred area of practice early and focus on it.
He stressed that the Faculty has come a long way since 2006/2007
session and has since produced a total of 253 pharmacists.
Dr. Uzochukwu disclosed that the graduands have been imparted with six core competencies and skills which include pharmaceutical care, drug discovery & development, pharmaceutical formulation, pharmaceutical quality assurance, public health and management.
Administering the oath, the registrar of the Pharmacists' Council of Nigeria Pharm. Elijah Mohammed urged the newly inducted PHARMACISTS to abide by the pharmacist
ethics.
The best graduating student, Pharmacist Ukamaka Maduagwu in her speech attributed her success to the mercy of God, urging other students to be industrious and hard working.
