Impeachment looms in Anambra.

A cold war is brewing between the Anambra state lawmakers and the state governor , Willie Obiano over unpaid allowances.
According to our source , the  state legislators who were inaugurated on June 12 this year have not been paid their furniture and 28th day allowances.
“The 28th day allowance is meant to serve as our hotel allowances , pending when we would be properly accommodated by the state government; but all these have not been paid , and nobody is  talking to us.
‘It’s not that we don’t have the capacity to cause fight for it , but we don’t want this state to be in bad light any more. But let nobody see that as weakness. our source said.
The source maintained that 16  of the lawmakers had approached a certain business mogul in the state to lay their complaints  about this development so that he would prevail on the governor to do the needful so as to avoid anybody blaming the legislators in the event of an untoward situation.
The source added that“Tomorrow  they will say we want to impeach somebody. That is not our purpose. Our purpose is  for them treat us like  other lawmakers in other states. But let nobody push us to the wall.”
But in statement to mark the 100 days of inauguration of the House , made available to newsmen in Awka on Friday , the Speaker of the  State House of Assembly, Mrs Rita Maduagwu reassured of continued support to the Executive to move the state to greatness.
She said “While commending Governor Obiano for his purposeful administration evident in the massive development going on in  the state , the legislature would continue to play its roles towards a peaceful and good governance of the state and prayed God to guide the lawmakers throughout their tenure.”
She enumerated some of the achievements of the legislature  within 100 days of inauguration to include passage of an amendment bill for the provision of housing and employment for her citizenry.
