Coming on the heels of the letter written to President Buhari, by former ministers in Goodluck Jonathan’s tenure, auditors have uncovered huge financial irregularities in the ministry of works.
According to Vanguard Newspapers, the former minister added his wife and sister-in-law, to an official list of ministry staff, going for training in Dubai, United Arab Emirate.
The reports also revealed that the former minister paid his wife and sister-in-law, N1,475,023, and N1,474,023 respectively, for the one week trip.
He also paid N496,023 each, for business class tickets for both of them, while officials of the ministry, paid N250,000 each.
Vanguard also reports that the sum of N20.2 million was used as supplementary allowance for four ‘additional stakeholders’ who would accompany him on an official trip to the World Infrastructure Summit in Paris.
According to Vanguard, the four stakeholders, whose names were not disclosed by the minister, got N4,057,220 for estacode, N5,433,400 for flight tickets and N10.8 million on participation fees for their weeklong stay in Paris.
