GOC 82 Div Enugu charges officers, soldiers to carryout duties with dedication


www.odogwublog.com reports that the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, Enugu, Brig.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, has urged officers and soldiers of the army to carry out their duties with passion and dedication.

Attahiru  who gave the charge during a familiarization tour of the Onitsha Military Cantonment in Anambra on Friday , noted that the Chief of Army Staff vision of maintaining utmost professionalism by all in the army must be maintained; adding that the COAS had made instilling of discipline among rank and file of the army his cardinal focus.

``You are our eyes, ears and men on ground; so the Chief of Army Staff expect nothing less then been committed and executing your duties whether army or internal security duties with passion that shows professionalism.

``To the army authorities, professionalism also means that officers and men must respect human rights as well as carry out their duties with the greatest sense of responsibility at all times,’’ he said.

The GOC also said that the Chief of Army Staff was highly concerned about staff welfare and training.

``The Army chief has asked me to tell you that your welfare is his utmost concern and he would continue to make sure that your salaries and allowances were given to you in due time.

``With this, you can see that the army authorities would want you to put in your best and be rest assured that your hard work and dedication would never be in vain,’’ he said.

At the Cantonment Medical Reception Station (MRS), the GOC lauded Anambra government for extending the hospital, which gave room for more wards and specialty services.

``I must laud the Anambra State government for its intervention and structures within the military hospital here; it is a welcomed development,’’ he said.

The GOC during the visit inspected a quarter guard; command office and operation rooms of 302 Artillery Regiment and 14 Field Engineer Regiment.

He also toured the entire cantonment as well as its military hardware.
