Fake lawyer who stole N6m from victims in police net

                                                         
For over two years, a fraudster, Olawale Falola, paraded himself as a highly placed lawyer with the connections to secure employment with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation for jobless youths, and in the process, duping them of over N6 million.

But today, he is languishing in the police cell in Ibadan, Oyo State after men of the state Police Command nabbed him. And it turned out that Falola is a drop out from a university in Osun State and had deceived more than 100 people in his fake employment scam.

His cup became full after the police accosted him with the sticker of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) on his car's windscreen and could not substantiate his claims of being a lawyer and during interrogation, he confessed that he was actually a fake lawyer who went about duping innocent people.

“I paraded myself as a lawyer and I have taken money from more than 100 people. I promised to get jobs for them at NNPC and security organisations.

I have made up to N6m from the practice out of which I bought a Toyota Corolla car valued at N2m. I lived in Osogbo. I came to Ibadan to visit my family when I was arrested by the police.”

The state Police Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said that the trickster would soon be charged to court for impersonation and fraud after the conclusion of investigations while the car has been impounded.

“Falola was arrested for parading himself as a lawyer when he was not. The car was bought from the proceeds of his illegal activity and he had confessed to the crime.

There is no place for such people in our society. In our renewed effort to completely rid the state of criminals, the state police command will not give room for criminals to thrive,” Oyebade said.
