Enugu Assembly approves Gov. Ugwuanyi’ N14bn loan request
Enugu State House of Assembly has passed a resolution, authorizing Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi to obtain a loan of over N14 billion on behalf of the State Government.
The House gave the approval on Monday, following a motion sponsored by the Leader of the House, Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, on behalf of Governor Ugwuanyi who requested for approval for the loan.

According to Ezeugwu, who represents Udenu State Constituency, it was a motion for resolution of the house, authorizing government to obtain loan of N4, 207,000,000 and N10 billion, through Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for liquidation of arrears of pensions, subventions and salaries in the state and for development of infrastructural projects to be secured by Excess Crude Account.The Deputy Leader of the House, Onyinye Ugwu, seconded the motion.
It could be recalled that the last Enugu State House of Assembly rejected a request by the then Governor, Sullivan Chime to obtain N11 billion loan through an Irrevocable Standing Payment Order (ISPO) from a commercial bank, just few days to the end of his administration.
