Ambassador Ejeviome Eloho Otobo will on Wednesday, September 16, 2015, launch his book, Consolidating Peace in Africa: The Role of the United Nations Peace building Commission at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Lagos.
Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former Commonwealth Secretary-General will chair the occasion, while Professor Ibrahim Gambari, former Foreign Affairs Minister and ex-UN Under-Secretary General will be the Guest Speaker. The book launch is being sponsored by the Pan African Institute for Global Affairs and Strategy (PAIGAS), founded by Ambassador Martins Uhomoibhi, former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in collaboration with The New Diplomat, founded by Mr. Oma Djebah, former Commissioner for Information in Delta State. The book will be reviewed by Mr. Oseloka H. Obaze, the immediate past Secretary to the Anambra State Government.
Ambassador Otobo was until recently the Director and Deputy Head of the United Nations Peacebuilding Support Office at the United Nations Headquarters, New York; where he also acted as an Assistant Secretary General. He joined the United Nations after a distinguished career in the diplomatic service of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Otobo is currently a Non-Resident Senior Expert in Peacebuilding and Global Economic Policy at the Global Governance Institute in Brussels, Belgium; a member of the External Experts Advisory Board of the European Commission Framework Project on Informing Conflict Prevention, Response and Resolution (INFOCORE) Media in Conflict; a senior Advisory Partner in NEXTNOMICS Advisory, an economic , strategy and development advisory group; and a member of the Editorial Board of The New Diplomat publication. He writes occasionally for THISDAY.
Early in the year, he co-edited African Development in the 21st Century: Adebayo Adedeji’s Theories and Contributions (2015). Otobo had his undergraduate education at the University of Lagos, Nigeria, and did graduate studies at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government.
