Anambra Police parade 43 MASSOB members

www.odogwublog.com reports that no fewer than Forty-Three members of the people suspected to be members of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, and the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, arrested by State Joint Security Task Force in Anambra state have been paraded.
The suspects who were allegedly arrested with items some of which included MASSOB ID Cards, tellers used for payments into the Secessionist Group’s account and Charms at various parts of Nnewi, Awka, Onitsha and Okpoko in Ogbaru Council Area, were yesterday paraded at the State Police Headquarters in Awka.

State Commissioner of Police who is the Head of the State Security Taskforce, Mr Hosea Karma while addressing newsmen after the parade said the arrests were the outcome of increased surveillance by the Taskforce aimed at supporting Governor Willie Obiano’s stance in ensuring that the state is safe and secure for all its inhabitants.
CP Karma said they immediately swung into action upon getting the information that some miscreants under the guise of MASSOB and IPoB were terrorizing developers across various cities in the state, demanding and forcing them to part with very outrageous amount of money before they will be allowed to carry on with their projects.
“The miscreants block parks, terrorize traders and harass unsuspecting members of the public preventing them from going about their normal businesses. The joint security taskforce gathered intelligence that they were to assemble at a church and mobilized forces and arrested them. 28 of the suspects were arrested at Nnewi where they had attacked a Police Patrol Team while 15 of them were picked up at Okpoko, deemed to be their den”, said the Police Commissioner.
He assured citizens and residents of the state that the Taskforce is combat-ready especially with the Yuletide fast-approaching, to clamp down on all criminals and activities capable of undermining the peace and stability which the state government’s security initiative have brought to stay in the state, warning criminals to stay away from the state or risk being caught.
Also speaking, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security, Mr Chikodili Anara said the Present Administration will not allow any form of insurrection where Ndi Anambra will be held hostage by any group or groups of individuals irrespective of who is involved, noting that the state is now a reference point in terms of security due to the Governor’s genuine commitment to his security initiative.
Some of the suspects who spoke with newsmen including the MASSOB Area Administrator, Nnewi South, John Okoha and Ogechukwu Ugwuoke both from Ebonyi State, while acknowledging that they are members of MASSOB, said they went for a church thanksgiving to mark the 16th year anniversary of MASSOB where they were arrested by the Taskforce, adding that they are a non-violent group only committed to the cause of the Igbo nation.
According to them, “Biafra is like the Sun that cannot go dim.”
