Anambra: 1 smashed, several injured by lorry at Nkpor

                                                  
Luck ran out of a little girl today afternoon as a lorry belonging to Nigeria Breweries smashed her beyond recognition.

The little girl, 9 met her Waterloo when  coming back from where she bought meat for her mother along bypass of Afor Nkpor-Tarzan road.

An eye witness who gave her name as Ifeoma said the lorry driver, standing by his door side was shouting, as a means of alerting the public that he was in danger.

In her words, "the driver could not control the situation and he immediately jumped out alongside the conductor"

"The lorry hit one L300 inside a waterway, smashed the little girl and thrust itself dangerously inside a saloon"

It was gathered that the lorry with registration number XA424-AA4H, Anambra had full load of Life Drinks to its capacity.

Another eye witness (name withdrawn) said the lorry trapped an aged man under the tire, while the owner of the hair saloon, out of fear ran away, leaving her 5years old child behind.

He noted that the child also was laying helplessly under the lorry crying innocently for divine help.

According to the eye witness "we managed to pull the old man out with his legs chartered, while the child was rescued spotlessly"

Security personnel, police and Road Safety who responded to the situation confirmed that the body of the dead child had been deposited to Iyi enu Mortuary, while others who sustained various degrees of injuries during the swaying had been taken to hospital for treatment.
