4 men in prison for robbing, raping housewife

                                                      
Four suspected criminal elements, Peter Paul, David Amos, Emeka Peter and Ibrahim Isma’ila, were remanded in prison for allegedly robbing and raping a married woman in Suleja, Niger State.

The four were ordered remanded by a Niger State Magistrate Court sitting in Suleja, after the prosecution told the court how the stormed the woman's home in the night when her husband was away on night duty and after robbing her of items including one plasma television, one HP laptop, jewelries, and the sum of one million and N70,000, before taking turns to rape the woman at gun point.

The police prosecutor, Jonathan Garba, informed the court that the victim made a report of the incident at the Suleja A Division Police Station on the morning after the incident, stating that she was able to recognise one of the suspects who is a friend of her husband and had recently done some aluminium works in the house.

Garba said that the actions of the suspects contradicted Sections 97, 298 and 283 of the Penal Code.

Magistrate Mariya Isma’ila rejected their bail application and ordered the accused persons to be remanded in prison custody while the case was adjourned to September 17, for hearing
