World Exclusive: Oldest Man in Achina, Anambra state is Ezekoro deity spring water Chief Priest

Over 90 years old Chief Priest of the Ezekoro spring, Pa Ezeabata Ezemokwe of Ebenator , Umuezeiyi, Achina wept for the much harm the Church has done to the tradition in the name of Christianity, saying ‘’ the Church has spoilt the tradition and culture of Ezekoro.  People are now misbehaving and that is why sudden death and troubles are besieging them unknown to them.

‘’The stream is a goddess and I am the only one that enters its shrine at the market square and nobody else. And I can assure you that anything anybody is looking for , be it child or money , Ezekoro has an answer to that if you obey its rules. The sacrifices are not expensive but if you come with a cock and promise to bring a cow if your request is granted , do not fail when it comes to time of fulfillment in the name of Christianity.

To see this Chief priest you must have visited one of the mysteries of God beyond your imagination in Achina community in Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State after you must have climbed 245 steps down the deep valley of Ezekoro spring and out.

My guide is a motorcycle operator Kosisochukwu Ezenwanne , from Umuezeiyi hosts of Ezekoro spring water. He said the Ezekoro shrine is at Orie Achina but I had no interest going to the shrine but the Chief Priest’s residence. Lack of care is eroding the steps already.

He educated me on the stream saying down at the stream is Ihe Obiji that surrounds the entrance with a dam called Odele . It is located in the boundary between Enugwu-Umuonyia . And there are other streams like Iyi Ohuru, Iyi Onneh, Iyi Ikpa , Ekuro and Iyi Umunwachi and Ezekoro was adopted from Alusi-Ezekoro, a deity.
I arrived 5:30 Pm at the grove and but for the initial pictures I captured on the helipad like scene heralding the mangrove where the stream was located and nothing could have made me enter there but for the guide , no other picture taken was good. It was dark. He said youths have taken charge of the stream as some people have started using the stream for sacrifices for fortunes and other things that would benefit them against what the community stipulated. The youths erected a signpost warning against those about to perform sacrifices. ………………
This is along Achina road to Agbudu-Ugboji-Ndiokpaleke to Aguluezechukwu road which now appears to have been abandoned by the contractors handling it, hence the community appealed to Governor Willie Obiano to intervene as if erosion excavates the culverts and gutters , it would be a mere waste of public resources. …………………He said contractors have moved out of site, while erosion is threatening.
…………….. the steps were constructed by a group from the United States of America called Operation Crossroads Africa (OCA) in 1958 to enable residents cope with its hurdles of climbing the bumpy, sloppy and difficult steep.
