A highway police patrol team in Delta State has impounded 11 goats allegedly stolen by hoodlums.
A Toyota Camry salon car, with number plates Edo 782 AP, which had three occupants, refused to stop for police officers on a stop-and-search duty along the Sapele-Benin Expressway.
Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Celestina Kalu, said the patrol team gave the hoodlums a chase and they abandoned the car.
He said: “The vehicle was searched, 10 live goats and one dead goat, suspected to have been stolen, were recovered.
“Meanwhile, investigation and efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects are on.”
He added that on Monday policemen from Ugborikoko Division clashed with three hoodlums, at NNPC Housing Complex Road, Warri, in a red Vento salon car, with number plates Delta EFR 11 DE, and recovered the vehicle, one AK-49 rifle No.1969, 805536 with five rounds of live ammunition, and a pair of plate numbers.
