reports that this is a wedding of the century. It was splendid but not a fairy
tale wedding. 15th August, 2015 was the date and MAYROSES hotels Amawbia , Awka
South Anambra state was the dateline. Mr Patrick Ikenna Nwenem is from Uruowulu
village Obosi, a businessman based in South-Africa. His bride Miss Vivian
Akaego Okafor is from Ifite village Enugwu-Agidi and a nurse based in London,
United Kingdom.
His Lordship , Most Reverend Dr Peter
Okpalaeke , the Bishop of Ahiara diocese wedded the coup but not without asking
them to ensure they understood themselves and ensure love, openness and tolerance
reigns supreme. He insisted that spirit of forgiveness must be their watchword.
They were childhood friends according to them and they decided to nut the tie even though the notice was so short but hundreds of people attended the ceremony. And they surprised all too as there was enough to eat and drink in whatever brand and dish, it was assorted. The wedding was of class.
The couple did not want to divulge much during an encounter with www.odogwublog.com as the groom simple said ‘’ she is my childhood friend and I want to marry her like my father married my mother. Look at them and see what it takes to be in love , so that is my dream for her’’.

The bride wanted to say much but an eye contact discuss with her husband discouraged her from saying further and she gave me a gap toothed smile but before then she said ‘’ …this is a long story but………(looks at her husband) I pray for God’s blessings for this union as only His wish can happen and to bless us with the fruits of the womb………………’’
Later when asked about how much she would need in
cooking fa pot of soup for her husband by the compere (Mc) , she answered
thather husband likes Ogbono soup most and therefore she would prepare it
but with N50,000 and the entire hall shouted and jubilated. It added relief
from eating , winning and dancing.
Reverend Father Vincent Ezezue from Lagos Archangels
Parish, Satellite Town and an Uncle to the bride described the event as
unprecedented for the young couple to unite in love and happiness in a record
time. He prayed God to grant them life and health to enjoy the vicissitudes of
marital life. He encouraged them to understand each other.

In his opening remarks , the chairman on the
occasion , High Chief (Hon) Onwelukwe A.N.C (JP) United Nations, Owelle Ugbene,
Traditional Defence Minister, said the wedding is for prosperity and success as
well as everlasting linkage between Obosi community and Enugu-Agidi community.
Owelle Ugbene said that Akaego and Ikenna’s wedding
is tagged ‘’Let our children marry’ meaning ‘’there is power in Love that our
World has not discovered yet. Jesus discovered it centuries ago. Mahatma Gandhi
of India discovered it few years ago but most men and women never discovered
it. For they believe in hitting and hitting, they believe in hating for hating
but Jesus comes to us and say ‘’This isn’t the way’’.
‘’ Hence, let our Children marry. Marriage is tough
institution, let’s stop sugar coating it. It is also a life time Institution.
Many parents state too openly that their daughters would always come home if
they found their marriages too uncomfortable. That was not the case in father’s
time.
‘’You made your bed, and you lie on it. Besides ,
what does not break you can only strengthen you. What you cannot replace,
please don’t delete. In the words of Karl Marx, a protagonist of socialist and
economic order, said and I quote, that when he had found a vocation in which he
must contribute most to humanity, burdens must not bend him because it is a
sacrifice to all, unquote.
‘’Love is and shall ever remain the engine hub of a
successful married life-hence, love the greatest commandment among the ten
commandments of God; it is even more tragic, it is ever more ruinous and
injurious to the individual who hates. Therefore, love, tolerate , sacrifice
and succumb willingly to express the love’’.
High Chief Onwelukwue concluded that the posers
above are food for thought to the new couple Akaego and Ikenna , their parents
and sponsors as well as well wishers.
In attendance
were Dr Mrs Ekwy Egbuna ; Chief Dr G.C Osakwe, Odu Nkata Ukwu Obosi ; Chief B.
Nwanem , Omekachie Obosi ; Rev Fr Emma Odoh and toast by Rev Fr Francis Okoye.
At the end of
the day, Mr Mrs Ikenna Patrick Nwenem couched their appreciation thus ‘’we the
Okafor and Nwenem families of Enugwu-Agidi and Obosi communities both of
Anambra state Nigeria, feel highly elated for your support and solidarity in
gracing our wedding. The turnout was least expected due to short notice but
mightily appreciated. May our Almighty Father Bless you and grant you all
mercies as you travel back to your different destinations in His Mighty name we
pray ….Amen’’.
The best man, Michael Nwenem insisted that the couple were meant for each other and that was
why the guests turned up and were happy despite the short notice for the
wedding, while the father of the groom and mother of the bride prayed God to
assist their children understand themselves better at marriage and bless them
with children , health and success in their trade and profession. They noted that nothing is as sweet as
watching your children marry.
