A former Minister of Finance, Dr. Kalu Idika Kalu, who had been speculated to be among those being considered by President Muhammadu Buhari for a position in the forthcoming cabinet, has denied being indebted to any bank, institution or individual.

Kalu, who released a statement yesterday to debunk a national daily report that listed him as a director of a debtor firm, insisted that he is not a director in any debtor company.

According to the ex-Minister, “I ceased being the non-executive chairman of BGL three years ago by a decision of its board in my absence. It was said that I was re-assigned to chair its Advisory Board that has never been set up.

“It is, therefore, not true that I am a director of BGL. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) can confirm this fact if in any form of doubt. Further, I can assert, without any fear of contradiction, that I am not owing any bank, any institution or anybody a kobo or a dime. And also, I am not a director of any debtor firm,” he added.
