Girls' Power2 ladies docked for beating up ex-lover

                                                         Court of Justice

Two female friends, Rashidat Iyabo, 20, and Jumoke Olawe, 34, were on Thursday, August 20, arraigned before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos, for allegedly ganging up to beat Iyabo’s ex-lover, one Sunday Dauda, for dumping her for another woman.

The two women who are both traders, were mad that Dauda had the guts to dump Iyabo, and therefore decided to teach him a lesson he would not forget in a hurry by beating the daylights out of him.

According to the police prosecutor, Inspector Emmanuel Silas, the two were docked on a two-count charge bordering on serious assault and conspiracy.

Silas told the court that the offences were committed on Wednesday, August 19, at Sawmill area in Ebute Meta.

“Iyabo solicited the help of her friend, Olawe, to help in beating up Dauda for breaking up with her.

They accosted the complainant on his way home where they beat him and stabbed him on his body and head thereby causing Dauda serious bodily harm.

Iyabo didn’t like the idea that Dauda broke up with her and therefore, set out to teach him a lesson.”

The accused, however, denied the charges and pleaded not guilty when they were read to them.

The Magistrate, Mrs O. Fowowe-Erusiafe, admitted them to bail in the sum of N50, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum while adjourning the case to October 9 for trial.
