President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed Ibe Kachikwu to serve as the new Group Managing Director (GMD) of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC).
Kachikwu was the Executive Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Exxon-Mobil (Africa) before his appointment on Tuesday, August 4, 2015.

In 1989, Ibe Kachikwu started Hints magazine, a publication which was an instant success.
He is the publisher of Complete Fashion magazine.
He graduated with a First Class in Law from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
He was the best graduating student from the Nigerian Law School, winning seven of the available nine prizes.
He has Masters and Doctorate Degrees in Law from the Harvard Law School.
He has worked as an Investment Attorney in the United States; General Counsel with Texaco Upstream and Downstream in Nigeria; Executive Vice Chairman of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited; and General Counsel for ExxonMobil Nigeria affiliate Upstream and Downstream Companies in Nigeria.
He was crowned the seventh Odogwu of Onicha-Ugbo, Delta State in 2013.
He authored the best seller – Nigerian Foreign Investment Law and Policy and more than 20 other publications.
He influenced over $10 billion investment from ExxonMobil Group into Nigeria and other African countries.
His daughter Nkemdili got married on January 31, 2015 at an event which was attended by former Head of State, Ibrahim Babangida and a host of Nigerian celebrities including Banky W, D’banj, Flavour and Praiz among others.
