Confusion in Anambra PDP as Obi’s Ex-commissioner, Uzodike rejects appointment as State Secretary

www.odogwublog.com reports that there is confusion now in Anambra state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as three factions have emerged, laying claims to the state leadership of the party.

To worsen the situation, a former commissioner in ex-governor Peter Obi’s administration , Chief Joe-martins Uzodike rejected his appointment as the Anambra state secretary of the People’s Democratic Party.

In a statement made available to reporter in Awka, the state capital, on Monday Uzodike said his resignation was due to personal reasons.

He emerged the state secretary of the party in a state congress held on 25th July even in absentia as he never attended the congress but was reserved position based on his antecedents.

But in his statement of resignation, the ex-commissioner said “I hereby convey to you, non acceptance of my nomination for the position of State Secretary" of PDP Anambra state due to personal reasons.

He , however, pledged to continue to work in the interest and unity of the of the party.
“I shall continue to offer my services to our party, especially towards its total reunification, rebuilding, and reinforcing, thereby ensuring that " we become one flock, one shepherd", with a focus devoid of personal interest but that of the party and our state, Anambra.

“ Power must not only belong to the people but must be seen to so do. Thank you and God bless”, Uzodike stated.

Uzodike was not happy with the factions emerging in PDP Anambra state and had no option than to resign.

The source said “ how can he take up such position in a time of this type  of crisis? He just left APGA some months ago to join PDP; how can he assume this type of position in a party that has so many factions. He didn’t’ join the party to start fighting wars and making enemies".

However Ken Emeakayi-led state executive committee of the party in the state has denied the story that it was planning to suspend the party's governorship candidate in the 2013 election in the state, Comrade Tony Nwoye and his loyalists from the party for anti-party activities.

In a telephone chat with our correspondent, Emeakayi said PDP as a law- abiding political party had its rules and regulations on such issues, saying that only the National working Committee of the party could decide on such matters.

The Nwoye-led faction of the party had boycotted the congresses of the party held last month, describing it as a sham and had even gone ahead to hold its own congress electing officials to work as state officials and other levels.
