Oseloka H. Obaze the immediate-past Secretary to the Anambra State Government (SSG) is a strategic policy adviser, diplomat, technocrat and writer. He left his SSG position on 8 June, 2015 and returned, in his own words "to private life."  When our reporter caught up with him recently, he declined granting a political interview, but responded to quality-of-life questions on how he is keeping busy.

Present Major Preoccupation:  Family, reading, writing and reflecting on the future. I'm resting productively.

Reading: Just finished John Grisham's  Gray Mountain  and Radiant Angelby Nelson Demille.  Both are engrossing and free-flowing reads. I've just reread The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran.  I am also re-reading a 1997 book called Don't Sweat The Small Stuff by Richard Carlson - very insightful views on grappling with everyday challenges, peeves and  idiosyncrasies. After eighteen years, I still marvel at the book's capacity to keep one grounded on ideas and actions. Everyone should read it. It makes you not to take yourself too seriously.

Listening: I now have time to revisit my large music collection.  My choice of music is eclectic. But George Benson'sBreezing  (1977) and Marc Antione's Mediterrano (2003) both jazz, are ageless and iconoclastic.  Fela Anikulapo  Kuti's Palaver is as soothing as ever and the lyrical philosophy still instructive and relevant. Fela is a genius. He lives on.

Watching: Television everywhere is replete with bad news, U.S. and Nigeria included; but I have to watch the news and news magazines to keep abreast with trending issues. I find MSNBC's The Rachel Maddow Show fascinating, vis a vis American and global politics. And of course,  it's take on the broad field of American republican presidential candidates now led by Donald Trump. I also watched Carol Ilogienboh's introspective docudrama -- Talking With God. It's on YouTube.  I still try to catch Seun Okinbaloye's Politics Today on Channels Television every Sunday evening.

Following: I'm still averse to doing Twitter and Facebook, despite my awreess and support for the high value and utility of the social media, if used properly.

Personal indulgence:  I've being doing a five-mile poer work daily; its good for my cardiovascular well being. I hope I can sustain the regime long term.

Nigerian politics:  Nigerians, myself included, are relearning the virtue of patience. It's is well and refreshing. I'm following national developments as they evolve. These are interesting times.  I have, of course, written several op-eds on strategic policies issues, for whatever they my be worth.

What else are you writing:  Well, I've just turned in my anthology, which span poems from three decades to my publisher.  My good governance advocacy book is also with the publisher. I will now turn to

And The Future: As Nigerians say, 'God is control'  and 'No condition is Permanent' and 'Ex-this today, Ex-that tomorrow.' I concur on all three counts.
