Anambra teachers hail Obiano, Omenugha for Computer Literacy project

www.odogwublog.com gathered that there was an eruption of jubilation at Igwebuike Grammar school, venue of the ongoing free computer training by the Anambra state government as approved by Governor Willie Obiano.
The teachers against the agitation and allegations that the Governor Willie Obiano administration was forcing them to buy a laptop at N90,000 apologized for the unruly behaviour that brought about negative media publicity to the Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha when she came for supervision on the training programme.
www.odogwublog.com reports that there teachers were happy as so many of them where touching computers for the first time in their lives at the training workshop and were excited about that. They showed heroic signs with manipulating the computers after the commissioner gave them some motivational talk.
It was interesting to watch the teachers jubilating for touching the laptops and prayed God to bless Governor Willie Obiano for the thoughtfulness and praised the Commissioner for Education, Prof Kate Omenugha for her motherly explanation on the computer policy.
Although www.odogwublog.com was not at the scene at Igwebuike Grammar Awka when it happened but sources who were there at the scene but would not like to be mentioned because of those who are yet to understand the police said Omenugha opened their eyes to their level of decay and rottenness with lack of digital literacy.
When contacted for comment on the issue , the Education Commissioner, Prof Kate Azuka Omenugha queried our correspondent on why he did not visit the training center to see things for himself rather than calling on phone but confirmed she was amazed for the enthusiasm  exhibited by the teachers at the training center.
Prof Omenugha told www.odogwublog.com that ‘’Anambra state teachers were laughing and smiling for putting on a computer ‘’.
She said because many of the teachers are digital migrants and noted that Obiano has demystified computer for them.  She admitted that after speaking to them on the need to reject failure and accept that they can by saying ‘’ yes we can’’ and together with Obiano’s administration’s support they can achieve computer literacy in the shortest possible time.
She explained that the computer policy was a policy of the Federal government by the National Council on Education since 2012.
Omenugha informed that the computer policy was a full package, noting that although there are computers sold below N90,000, they opted out for that of N90,000 to be paid in 18 months because of its package.
She said it is a whole package including training for the teachers on ICT, tutor Software, 4 gigs, HP, Intel as well as Flash drive, and would work with the state’s curriculum, and warned that anybody who got anything less the quality approved should report immediately. She clarified that the ongoing training was for everybody including those who bought into the package and those who did not while the later trainings would be for those who bought into the package.
She however was not happy that four laptop computers disappeared after the training wondering why those who did not have passion for ICT would like to have it for keeps but hoped those who carried it would return it and it would be taken as a mistake.
