Anambra Govt promises more support for Red Cross

 Nigerian Red Cross Society (NRCS), Anambra State Chapter, recently marked the opening ceremony of their 6th National Youth Super Camp at Igwebuike  Grammar School Awka, with this year’s theme as; “Empowering the Youth for Effective Development”.
    Governor Obiano, ably represented by his Special Adviser on Youth Empowerment, Mr. Onyeka Ibezim ,commended the services and roles played by the Anambra Red Cross Society during the recent fire disaster at Upper Iweka, Onitsha and promised to extend his hand of friendship to help tackle some of the challenges the voluntary organisation can be facing in order to make them stronger.
    The Governor assured that his administration has a lot of empowerment programmes mapped out for the youths in the state, which falls especially in the area of science and technology, agriculture, construction works and intellectual map of development. He  disclosed government’s commitment towards helping the youths actualise their dreams and be better in the society.
    In a goodwill message by the National President ,NRCS,  Elder  Bolaji Anani, represented by Dr. Franklin Orji, the National Health Adviser said  that Anambra was  setting the pace in the committee of Red Cross Society in Nigeria    
Earlier at the occasion, the State Chairman NRCS, Hon. Justice Obidigwe P.A.C, expressed his appreciation to the state government for its support towards the Red Cross Society, especially during the Upper Iweka fire disaster and having organised a befitting mass burial for the deceased, describing it as a commendable act.
    In a lecture, the State Vice Chairman, Prof. Peter Katchy, said that youths of a nation should be seen as a young group of persons who are predominantly higher in population and are considered as the future generation who will be handed over the baton of leadership, national workforce and highly considered productivity group of the nation.
    He condemned the recycling of old leaders in the country while there are many significant youths that can help move Nigeria forward, and urged the youths to empower themselves vocationally.
