Anambra First Speaker Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu Dies at 75

www.odogwublog.com reports that the old Anambra State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu is dead.

There was grave silence during plenary at the legislative complex Awka  when the speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly Rt.Hon.Rita Mmaduagwu read a letter from Enenchukwu family in Oba Idemili-south local government area of Anambra state  announcing the demise of the first speaker of the old Anambra State House of Assembly  Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu .

After the observance of one minute silence for the departed lawmaker , members of the 6th Anambra assembly took turns to eulogise as well as recall some of the monumental achievements of the old Anambra House of Assembly under the speakership of late Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu , Oba of Oba .

Deputy-speaker of the 6th Anambra  legislature Rt.Hon.Barr.Harford Ikechukwu Oseke in his condolence message to the Enenchukwu family noted that the late speaker was one of the foundation members of the Anambra State House of Assembly . He said that the departed lawmaker per excellence laid the foundation of what the present day lawmakers have leaveraged on .

Although he saw his death as a great loss to the government and people of Anambra State but also prayed that God should bestow the family the fortitude to bear the loss .

Also the majority leader of the house and member representing Anambra-west state constituency Hon.Victor Jideofor Okoye was of the opinion that the Enenchukwu family should take solace in the virtuous deeds of their late father .

According to him , " i remember 2 years ago we visited the former speaker ; he was full of life . We saw some pictures and he told us a lot about the old Anambra State... " Hon .Okoye said that it was a pity that the first speaker passed on at the time his legislative ingenuity was needed stressing that God giveth and God taketh !

The majority leader therefore maintained that the present day legislators have a lot to learn from the departed lawmaker . He said that one of such qualities to emulate from the late speaker is integrity stressing that sometimes it is not all about what one can get but what one can give to the society . He therefore called on lawmakers of the present day legislature not to think of what they would get but think of what they can give to the society .

On the other hand Hon.Francis Mmegbuanaeze of Idemili-north state constituency noted that the role Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu played in the development of Anambra state can not be over-emphasized .

Hon.Mmegbuanaeze however acknowledged that the old Anambra state legislature was characterised by peaceful deliberations and discussions contrary to the rancour and discordant tunes that prevail nowadays in the legislature pointing out that late Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu was a man of impeccable character who believed very strongly in the doctrine of separation of powers and functions .

Also the lawmaker representing Ayamelum state constituency in the 6th assembly Hon.Uche Okafor saw the demise of Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu as a monumental loss to Ndi-Anambra .

Hon.Okafor recalled that " i know Enenchukwu as a little boy because my father was a member of that house , the old Anambra state house of assembly " According to him as speaker of the old Anambra state house of assembly Rt.Hon.Ifeanyichukwu Enenchukwu brought the development that is being
enjoyed today in Anambra, Enugu and Ebonyi states respectively .

Hon.Okafor therefore added that Anambra has lost a library of political thoughts .
