16-year-old Girl Injured in Jerusalem Gay Pride Parade Attack Dies

                   A 16-year-old girl by name Shira Banki, who was injured when a religious extremist carried out a stabbing attack at the annual gay pride parade in Jerusalem on Thursday; July 30, 2015 has died.

Hadassah Hospital confirms. Banki had remained in a critical condition after being stabbed in the back during Thursday’s attack, which injured 5 others and was allegedly perpetrated by the same man who carried out a similar attack a decade ago. 

“Shira was murdered because she courageously supported the principle according to which everyone is entitled to live their lives in dignity and safety,” Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a response, adding that the attacker will be dealt with “to the fullest extent of the law.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sends his condolences to the family of Shira Banki, who succumbed today (Sunday, 2 August 2015) to the wounds she received when she was stabbed during the Pride Parade in Jerusalem. "Shira was murdered because she courageously supported the principle according to which everyone is entitled to live their lives in dignity and safety. We will not allow the abhorrent murderer to undermine the fundamental values upon which Israeli society is based. We strongly condemn the attempt to instill hatred and violence in our midst and we will deal with the murderer to the fullest extent of the law," the Prime Minister said.

However, Banki's family has said they will donate her organs, the Times of Israel reports.
