Two days ago the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, flew a private jet to Delta state to commission an altar in a church at “King Jesus and I Ministry’s Covenant Alter of Testimony.”

According to Reports, the private jet is estimated to cost about N1,392,650 ($7,000) per hour, which means the speaker’s estimated two-day trip cost about N66.8 million ($336,000).

When an online news portal Sahara Reporters broke the news, Dogara told the media that he paid for the trip himself and he did not use public money to fund his personal trip.

The speaker a member of the ruling party the All Progressives Congress (APC), just began his term in the National Assembly on a campaign, which promised to fight corruption and waste in government.

Dogara who has been a National Assembly representative since 2007, however did not explain how he could afford such a trip in a luxury jet.

The speaker said that he did not want to travel to Delta State but was “directed by God” to come and speak to the church members.

In a related development, there were controversies on social media after Hon. Dogara flew a private jet to Delta state.
