Manchester City defeated Roma 5-4 on penalties to win their pre-season friendly on Tuesday, after it ended 2-2 in full time. .
Raheem Sterling needed just three minutes to score his first goal for his new team, running onto Kelechi Iheanacho’s scooped pass and finishing calmly. Miralem Pjanic levelled five minutes later, as the match finished 1-1 in the first half.
Iheanacho put Manuel Pellegrini’s side ahead in the second half with a well-taken goal. With the Premier League side looking to win it in regulation time, Adam Ljajic scored Roma’s second in the 87th minute.
